2018. április 23

Sziasztok!
We have another great week behind us. We had a lot of exciting things going on. The recent converts are doing well, Csaba helped pass the sacrament yesterday (he did a great job, by the way), and he and his wife, Zsuzsa both got callings in the branch. It's been a lot of fun to work with them and see them become a part of the branch here. They are doing great, and the other recent convert, János got the Aaronic priesthood yesterday. The branch is doing a great job taking care of them.

We had a lesson with Kingsley, our Nigerian friend yesterday. We brought the Senior couple, and Elder Moser did a great job connecting with him. It was great to see how good he is at teaching the gospel, I guess it comes with a lot of practice. The lesson went great, Kingsley is really interested. It'll be fun to keep meeting with him, although it's weird to teach in English sometimes.

Other than that, we had a fun time teaching the recent converts. We found a new investigator on Monday, Kata, but then she dogged us on Tuesday and we haven't been able to get in contact with her. We had exchanges in Budapest this week, it was fun to go back there and work there, although it was in a different area. We also had exchanges with the other Elders, Elder Cushing and I were together. It went really well, I love Elder Cushing. He's hilarious and sometimes he's a hooligan. We were walking in the Avas Friday afternoon, and some kids yelled at us from their apartment, so we went to the building and the kids shouted their apartment code. We talked to them for a little bit, they were all partying, but it turned out that Elder Cushing had talked to them before.

Anyways, we had a great week, and this next week will be a lot of fun. We have a zone conference in Budapest, and a few exchanges planned.

Last p-day we visited a tower above the Avas, and there is a great view of the city there.
There's a few pictures of our district, our city, and a church that we visited. And a monkey that someone painted on a building.

PLUS...I added pictures that Sister Moser and Pres. Szabadkai posted on facebook.

Sziasztok!

Well, we had an exciting week. We were in other cities for a lot of it, but we were still able to have a good week and get some great work done.

We had a zone day in Debrecen, which was a lot of fun. We spent a lot of time playing games like missionary tag (everyone stands in companionships, and then one person chases someone. The person being chased stands next to a companionship and the person on the other end of the companionship becomes the new person being chased) and kickball. It was great to be outside all day and run around, but I was really sore for a few days. We also watched "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty", which was fun. All around it was a great day.

After that we had exchanges with the Debrecen elders. I was with Elder Baer, who's a new missionary. We had a fun time working together. We visited an Englishman named Ken who's a really nice person. He's been living in Hungary/Romania for a long time now and he tries to help people around him (he's adopted a bunch of orphans, given clothes to homeless people, etc). It was great to meet with him. We also went "chalking" as a part of the exchange, we drew the Plan of Salvation on the ground and then talked to people about it. It was a lot of fun, I've never done that before. I've got some pictures, but they aren't the greatest.

We also had exchanges in Nyíregyháza, which was fun. I worked with Elder Garrett. I went on exchanges with him over a year ago, and it was fun to see how much we've both changed an improved in the last year.

Other than that, we had a great time working and meeting with people here. Now that the Naárék and János have been baptized, we're reteaching the lessons, and Brother Naár got the Aaronic Priesthood yesterday. We're working on finding some new investigators to teach. We've lost contact with some of our most promising investigators, so now we're looking for new people to teach.

Recently I started reading the Book of Mormon again in my personal study, and I've been amazed at how well things apply to my current situation, even though I'm just reading a few chapters a day. It's great to see that if we liken the scriptures to ourselves, we can grow a lot as a result of our scripture study.

Sziasztok!
We had a really exciting week, we were able to get a lot of stuff done, and 4 of our investigators were confirmed yesterday. It was a really exciting experience and kinda nerve racking too.  It's been really great to work with János and the Naár family. They are all converted and they're going to do a lot of good here in Miskolc.

For example, last week one of the member's dad died (she's the only member in her family), and we'd actually brought this member, Edina, to a lesson with the Naár family. Right before the lesson started, Edina's mom called and told her that her dad had died. Immediately, the mom in the Naár family started comforting her and they did so much to help her. The funeral for Edina's dad will be today, and yesterday we helped the Naárék make some pogácsas for the after funeral get-together. It's been amazing to see how willing they are to help others in need and serve them.

Other than that, we had a great time working, finding, teaching. We had some meetings with the ward leaders, and it's been great to work with them to help them support these recent converts.

We were able to listen to the Sunday afternoon session and hear about the Ministering program. It's a great change and it reflects what the church has been focusing on, that we should take care of each other and love each other.

I know that President Nelson is a prophet of God and that as we study what the Prophets and Apostles have taught us, we will be inspired to know what we should do to draw closer to God and become more like Him. I'm very grateful that we are lead by inspired leaders.

2018. április 3

Sziasztok!
Well, we had a really exciting week. We spent a lot of time finding and getting ready for the baptism, and we had a really great time. We also had exchanges with Elder Leavitt and Elder Sharp from my MTC group, and it was a lot of fun to serve with Elder Leavitt again. We taught János, one of the investigators that was baptized, and we had a great time overall.

We also found an investigator from Nigeria. His name is Kingsley, and he let us in after we told him we were sharing a message about Jesus Christ. We had a great lesson with him, it was really weird to teach in English, but it all worked out. He's really nice, he even fed us, which was unexpected. We had some Nigerian food, with Chicken Liver and heart in it, which was weird. The food was really spicy, but also rather tasty.

The best part of the week was the baptism. It was really amazing, everything worked out well. It was really great to see our investigators get baptized. They were all so ready and it was a wonderful baptism. The primary here (which ended up being 4 kids, and one of them was being baptized that day) sang "I like to look for rainbows" which was really nice. The whole baptism was a great experience, and there weren't any crazy mishaps, although two of the people did almost slip and fall. This Sunday will be their confirmations, which will be really exciting.

We also had the chance to watch General Conference, which was really great, although we couldn't watch the Sunday afternoon session. We're going to watch it later this week during district meeting. I really loved Elder Bednar's talk about meekness, and President Nelson's about getting personal revelation. This conference was really amazing, and I'm really excited to study the talks and learn more.
